Deran Academy is a co-educational, private secondary school in Richmond Hill, Ontario adhering to the learning and teaching standards set by the Ontario ministry of education. The school offers secondary level courses based on the Ontario Curriculum and strictly adheres to the mandated Education Ministry Documents which include: Ontario Schools Policy and Program Requirements; Curriculum Guidelines; and, Growing Success for Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting Policy.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 95% of students that attend private schools successfully enter university or college after graduation.
All students will be required to take a Placement Test. Students may be required to write 1 or 2 Placement tests in Math and English.
Students enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL) program will be required to write the ESL placement test.

If you will be studying in a program of six months or less, but think you may continue your studies in another program after this short-term program is completed, you should apply for a study permit before you come to Canada. If you do not have a valid study permit and wish to continue your studies, you will have to leave Canada in order to apply for one.
A temporary resident visa may be required depending on your country of origin. Refer to the list of countries that require a temporary resident visa as provided by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The fee for the course must be paid in full at the time of registration. Students may cancel their registra-tion no later than end of the first week the start of classes. There will be a non-refundable $50.00 fee for cancellation. After that day there will be no refunds for canceled registrations.
In case of insufficient registration, the course will be canceled and students will be fully reimbursed without any deductions. Students will be immediately contacted by Deran’s and will be provided with a full refund.
Deran Academy assumes no responsibility and liability, whatsoever, for the sports activities prior to or following the academic segment of the program. By completing and signing the registration form, the student, his/her parents and or guardians, acknowledges, understands and accepts these terms.
By signing the registration form, the student and the parent/guardian give permission to Deran’s Collegiate School to disclose all the academic information regarding the student’s achievements to the student’s home school and the Ministry of Education. By signing the registration form, students at or above the age of eighteen give Deran’s personnel permission to discuss ALL matters relating to the course with their parents/ guardians.
Students and parents must read our code of behaviour and discuss it prior to the commencement of the course. By signing the registration form the student acknowledges that he/she has read, understood and accepted the terms of the school code of behaviour.
Attendance is mandatory. Although students are not evaluated on punctuality, we do not believe that students with poor attendance will be able to pass their courses.
It is the parent /guardian or student over 18 responsibility, to provide Deran’s with any relevant IEP in-formation prior to the beginning of the course.
